Missions and Evangelism

The basic objectives of this Board are the bringing of Gospel to the unchurched, the enlistment of all of God’s people in the work of spreading the Gospel, the deepening of faith and activity of the members of this congregation, and proper soul-accounting at all times.

In order to do these things, the board currently reaches out to the community by welcoming and visiting the homes of visitors to our church. We also actively support two local mission efforts. These consist of a mission overseen by Christ Lutheran Church and School in East Albuquerque, God Cares About You, and a church start-up on South Coors, St. Andrews, which is sponsored by Faith in Christ Lutheran Church, also in East Albuquerque.

At God Cares About You, church members conduct bible studies and collect food to distribute to families living in the “International District” on Central Avenue.

St. Andrews is a new Lutheran church, started in a store front near Coors and Rio Bravo, an area far from established Lutheran Churches. Our pastor shares preaching responsibilities at this church.

Other activities directly supported by members and groups in our church include the Lutheran Mission in El Paso, Ysleta Lutheran Mission, and prison ministries. For additional information please visit the Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care website to learn more.

Finally, Calvary Lutheran Church has pledged to support two overseas missionaries, one in Japan and one in Africa. We dedicate our Advent midweek offerings to the latter and the Lenten offerings to the former.

John Wolf is assigned in Africa to administer the support to the fledgling Lutheran seminaries in the very fruitful fields of Kenya. Please visit John Wolf’s prayer card at LCMS to learn more.

Reverend Daniel Jastram directs the long established Lutheran missions in the western Pacific. Please visit the Jastram’s prayer card at LCMS for more information.
